Google Voice
Have you ever needed to have another phone number? How about a phone number that would ring at every phone you have at the same time? Then you might be surprised that Google offers a free phone number that will let you have another phone number that will ring at you office, home, or cell at the same time!
With Google Voice, you have the ability to receive a text message on you cell phone of the conversation your caller makes when they reach your own personal voice mail account that is also provided with Google Voice. You can also choose what ever area code you want. You can have a 714 area code at home in Orange County, CA. and have your Google Voice number with a San Francisco area code of 415.
I operate a website that specializes in Patio Cover and Wood Deck leads for a buddy of mine in Orange County, Ca. However, I live in Arkansas. With Google Voice I have a virtual presense right there in Orange County and it does'nt cost me a red cent. How cool is that?
What is really cool about Google Voice is I have another voice mail account that actually records my client's message, but transcribes it, posts it to my control panel, and then sends me a text message directly to my cell phone with a copy of the transcript along with the client's phone number. I post my Google Voice number directly on the website to give the appearance that I run a local company right in their area. It is a great way to build trust in your business.
Another way Google Voice helps me is that it allows me to post on websites such as Manta, another virtual office in the area I am targeting. If you were a customer in Orange County, would'nt you rather call a local number over a long distance number? Of course you would. How cool would it be if you could go to your control panel and see a copy of your customer's voice message? I comes in very handy if you happen to have a short term memory problem like us older folk can get from time to time. I used Google Voice because it works.
How doe's Google Voice operate?
When your customer calls your Google Voice number, it is just like they are dialing your own phone number. The difference is when you receive the call. When you answer the call, you are prompted by Google Voice to press 1 if you want to receive the call, or you can let the call go straight to the voice mail system and wait for the text message to come to your phone. Pretty Cool don't you think?
